NASA SPACE FLIGHT HARDWARE WORKMANSHIP STANDARDS

STANDARD NO TITLE REV EFF. DATE
ANSI/ESD S20.20 Protection of Electrical and Electronic Parts, Assemblies and Equipment (Excluding Electrically Initiated Explosive Devices) 2007 February 2007

  NOTES

S20.20-2000 covers requirements necessary to design, establish, implement, and maintain an ESD Control Program for activities that: manufacture, process, assemble, install, package, label, service, test, inspect or otherwise handle electrical or electronic parts, assemblies and equipment susceptible to damage by electrostatic discharges greater than or equal to 100 volts Human Body Model (HBM). When handling devices susceptible to less than 100 volts HBM, more stringent ESD Control Program Technical Requirements should be instituted.  Per the 2007 version, two additional documents are also required to fully implement this standard:  TR20.20 and TR53.

The ESD Association provides S20.20 at no charge in PDF format. To download your copy, go to http://www.esda.org/standards.html. They can also provide hardcopies, but they must be purchased to cover printing and shipping costs.

To obtain TR20.20 and TR53 follow these steps:

a.      go to http://standards.nasa.gov, login, click on the Document Search link (left menu)

b.      type in either S20.20, TR20.20 or TR53 into the Document Number field and click the Search button
